Openreach PIA S008 Overhead Cabling

Openreach PIA SA008 Overhead Cabling accreditation course is designed for operatives using the Openreach network, utilising the overhead network infrastructure for communication providers (CP) with written agreements to use Openreach physical infrastructure access (PIA). Operatives and installation teams must hold a valid accreditation, which is Openreach SA008 Overhead cabling.

The Openreach PIA S008 Overhead cable accreditation consists of three modules:

• Module one: Develops the knowledge of the Openreach Overhead Infrastructure
• Module two: Prepares delegates with the skills and knowledge to undertake a safe PIA overhead cable installation using the overhead poles infrastructure
• Module three: Demonstrates individual competency required to complete a cable installation utilising the overhead network infrastructure.

This course will enable telecom overhead installation teams to carry out installations of cables correctly, following Openreach criteria, which include:

• Identifying existing network assets
• Pole space for fixing assets, like a connector block terminal, Aerial subscriber nodes
• Spanning cables between poles, including road crossing and drop wires for home installation
• Engineering techniques used to deploy drop cable up to a maximum diameter of 7mm within the Openreach Overhead infrastructure safely
• Network quality standards associated with PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access)
