We teach you how to set up OTDRs correctly, emphasise the importance of understanding settings, diagnosing and rectifying faults, and completing Tier 1 and Tier 2 testing using real labs and equipment, not just simulated software.

MEET OUR HEAD TRAINER
Paul Forster, the owner and managing director of Total Network Solutions (Europe) Ltd, and our Head trainer, commands respect in the industry thanks to his distinguished career that began in the armed forces at the age of 16 as a communications specialist. After 13 years of service, he transitioned into the telecommunications sector in 1997 and has since been a stalwart in telecommunications and data communications. His expertise lies in fibre optic installation, testing, and commissioning of networks such as passive optical networks (PON) and Access Networks crucial for fibre deployments. He is well-versed in transmission services like DWDM & CWDM.
Paul Forster is prominent in the Confederation of Fibre Optic Network Infrastructure and Installers (COFNII). This industry trade association oversees technical standards and training in the industry. He is an approved COFNII, Fibre Optics Association (FOA), and OTT certified trainer for various schemes; he has demonstrated his extensive knowledge and experience, meeting the stringent standards for accreditation. His extensive knowledge and experience in the communications industry ranges from network cabling infrastructure, Data Centres, and Telecommunications access networks, including Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA), to Passive Optical Networks (PON), Telecommunications transmission systems, PDH/SDH, CWDM, DWDM, and Fibre Characterisation, and he is an active member of GEL 86 parts 1, 2 & 3
Paul’s role as a consultant to organisations involved in fibre network deployments is a key aspect of his expertise. He ensures adherence to industry standards in telecommunications builds, including telecom civil engineering and fibre deployments. This practical experience, coupled with his comprehensive knowledge base that extends beyond the data communications industry, makes him a top trainer in the industry.
